From 31 August till March 1981 she was converted as a guidance ship for the TROIKA'S.
( Minesweeper - drones ).
In 2000 the SOUTH AFRICAAN NAVY purchased 6 type Troika mine countermeasure vessels.
They arrived all on 09 March 2001 at Simonstown, S.A. but only two were commissioned into service.

The M 1073   SCHLESWIG was renamed SAS  TSHWANE  M 1221 but never been commissioned and was her entire service in reserve.

From 31 August 1979 till 17 September 1981 she was converted as a guidance ship for the TROIKA'S.  ( minesweeper - drones ).

The M 1082 WOLFSBURG was renamed  SAS TEKWINI  M 1225 and was commissioned on 05 September 2001 till 2008.

She was stricken from the Naval Register on 16 March 1988. She was converted for weapons trials purposes as a Self Defense Test Ship ( SDTS ) who began on 04 March 1992. In October 2004 she was placed in use as EDDG.31 and pendant number E.31.Removed from the SDTS service on 15 December 2003 and towed to Pearl Harbor.
On 14 July 2004 she was sunk as a targetship in the RimPac exercise.
