From 31 August 1979 till 17 September 1981 she was converted as a guidance ship for the TROIKA'S.  ( minesweeper - drones ).
In 2000 the SOUTH AFRICAAN NAVY purchased 6 type 351 Troika type mine countermeasure vessels, they arrived all on 9 March 2001 at Simonstown, S.A. but only two of theme were commissioned into service.
The M 1076 PADERBORN was renamed SAS MANGAUNG M 1222 but never commissioned and was her entire service in reserve till 2013 stricken and scrapped.
