When commissioned the role of the CASTOR had to be two-fold. She was designed as both a Pilot
Boat and a Navy Vessel. She was commissioned by the Royal Netherlands Navy with pendant nr
A 810 and armed with a 3" / 76 mm gun.
In 1983 she was sold to a Dutch company and used as a research & survey vessel.
In 1988 she was resold to a British church society SEA CARE and renamed : REDEEMER.
In 1999 she was resold to a private Belgian owner to reconstruct her at URK ( Netherlands ) to a holiday diving vessel but was cancelled and laid up.
In 2006 she was sold and rescue from the scrapyard by Stichting Castor Rotterdam ( Netherlands )
and is now a Museum Ship.
In 2016 she was used in the movie " DUNKIRK " by Christopher Nolan. Converted as the Royal
Navy B - Class Destroyer : HMS BASILISK H 11.
