When decommissioned 26 October 1946 she was laid up at the Atlantic Reserve Fleet till March 1960 when she was towed to Brooklyn NY where she was assigned to the Naval Reserve Training.
Reclassified as a Auxiliary Submarine AGSS 297 in 1962.
Reclassified as a Miscellaneous Unclassified Submarine  IXSS 297 on the first of december 1971 and struck from the Naval Register.
Placed as a memorial at Hackensack NY on 28 June 1972. The NY Naval Museum subsequently closed in 2015.
